Friederike Brendler (b. Frankenberg 1999) studies applied theatre studies at the Justus-Liebig-University in Gießen. Together with Anna Schill and Maret Zeino-Mahmalat, she staged and conceived the queer lip-synch musical ›Pandora’s Heart‹ there, which was also performed at the Berlin club SchwuZ in 2023. She also organized one of the national 2023 Artist Labs on the subject of ›Public Opera‹ (directed by Dr. Ulrike Hartung, Michael von zur Mühlen and Moritz Lobeck) in Dresden-Hellerau and at Kampnagel in Hamburg. At the Bremen Theatre, she was the dramaturge for the 2022 NOperas! production ›Kitesh‹ (directed by HAUEN UND STECHEN) and assisted the musical theatre collective Opéra sur Tréteaux for Arnold Schoenberg’s ›Erwartung‹ at the Schlossplatztheater in Berlin.
As a co-dramaturge, she was involved in the musical theatre work ›Im Stein‹ by Sara Glojnarić and Clemens Meyer (director: Michael von zur Mühlen) and the final festival ›Alles endet‹ at the Halle Opera in 2021. She has also performed at the Tischlerei of the Deutsche Oper Berlin as part of the project ›Neue Szenen V: Scheiterhaufen – unser Vater | Vater unser‹ (director: Ana Cuéllar Velasco) and at the festival Theatermaschine22 in ›Mitesser‹ (directors: Marie Engert, Maret Zeino-Mahmalat).
Friederike Brendler completed a year of voluntary cultural service at the Semper Opera in Dresden after graduating from high school, followed by internships at the dramaturgy department of the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, the Leipzig Opera, the Halle Opera and the Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin.
