Rebecca Saunders
Renowned for her unmistakable and remarkable tonal idiom, the British-born, Berlin-based composer Rebecca Saunders is one of the leading international representatives of her generation. Born in London in 1967, she studied composition with Nigel Osborne and Wolfgang Rihm.
The focus of her oeuvre is on the three-dimensional and spatial characteristics of organized sound, as well as on a collaborative style of working, in dialogue with various musicians and artists.
For her compositions, Saunders has received numerous awards, including the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize in 2019. She is a member of the Academies of the Arts in Berlin, Munich and Dresden and has lived in Berlin for more than 25 years.
